Acceptable Use Policy

Last updated: May 31, 2026 Effective: June 1, 2026 8 min read

1.Purpose & Scope

This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") governs your use of all services provided by APEX HostMate ("we", "us", "our"), including hosting, servers, domains, SSL and related services (the "Services"). It exists to protect our customers, our infrastructure and the wider internet community. This AUP is incorporated into and forms part of our Terms of Service.

By using the Services, you agree to comply with this AUP and to ensure that your users, customers and anyone acting on your behalf also comply.

2.Prohibited Content

You may not use the Services to host, store, transmit, distribute or link to any content that:

  • Is illegal under any applicable law, or promotes illegal activity;
  • Infringes intellectual property rights, including pirated software, media or counterfeit goods;
  • Is defamatory, harassing, threatening or invasive of privacy;
  • Contains child sexual abuse material (CSAM) — we report such material to authorities and terminate accounts immediately;
  • Promotes violence, terrorism, or discrimination based on race, religion, gender or similar grounds;
  • Constitutes adult content in violation of applicable law, or is hosted without proper age verification where required.

3.Prohibited Activities

You may not use the Services to engage in, facilitate or enable:

  • Spam — sending unsolicited bulk email, or operating mailing lists without verifiable opt-in consent;
  • Malware — distributing viruses, worms, trojans, ransomware or any malicious code;
  • Phishing & fraud — hosting deceptive pages designed to steal credentials or commit fraud;
  • Hacking — unauthorised access to, scanning of, or interference with any system or network;
  • Denial of service — launching or participating in DoS/DDoS attacks;
  • Cryptocurrency mining — running resource-intensive mining operations on shared infrastructure;
  • Network abuse — IP spoofing, port scanning, or forging packet headers.

4.Email & Anti-Spam

Bulk or commercial email sent through the Services must comply with applicable anti-spam laws (such as CAN-SPAM and GDPR). You must maintain proof of opt-in consent, honour unsubscribe requests promptly, and accurately identify yourself as the sender. We may impose sending limits and rate controls to protect deliverability and our IP reputation.

5.Resource Usage

Shared hosting plans operate in a shared environment. To ensure fair performance for all customers, you may not:

  • Consume CPU, memory, disk I/O or network resources in a way that degrades service for others;
  • Run long-running background processes, daemons or proxy/VPN services on shared plans;
  • Use shared storage as a remote backup, file-distribution or media-streaming repository beyond normal website operation.

Workloads that consistently exceed shared-plan limits should move to a VPS, Dedicated DB or dedicated server for guaranteed resources.

6.Security Responsibilities

You are responsible for securing your applications, keeping software and plugins up to date, using strong credentials, and promptly addressing vulnerabilities. We may suspend any account or application that is compromised, distributing malware, or posing a risk to the platform, until the issue is resolved.

7.Enforcement

We investigate suspected violations of this AUP and may, at our discretion and depending on severity:

  • Issue a warning and request that you remedy the violation;
  • Remove or disable access to offending content;
  • Throttle, suspend or terminate the affected Service or account;
  • Report illegal activity to law enforcement and cooperate with investigations.

Where practical we provide notice and an opportunity to cure, but we may act immediately without notice for serious violations that threaten security, legality or the stability of our platform.

8.Reporting Abuse

If you become aware of any content or activity on our network that violates this AUP, please report it to our abuse team at abuse@apexhostmate.com with as much detail as possible (URLs, IP addresses, timestamps and headers). We take all reports seriously and respond promptly.

9.Changes to This Policy

We may update this AUP from time to time. The current version is always posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Material changes will be communicated through the Services or by email, and continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
